1. About outdoor IQ

outdoor IQ helps you choose the right outfit for outdoor sports. Just enter your activity, time and location – the app pulls current weather data and recommends a matching outfit and gear checklist based on conditions.

Supported activities: Running, Cycling, Hiking.

2. How the app works

Choose activity: Running, cycling or hiking
Set time: Now, in one hour or a custom date/time
Location: Automatic via GPS or enter manually
Get your outfit: The app recommends clothing and gear
„Gear" tab: Packing list with quantities (water, snacks, repair kit, etc.)

Use the „Cold tolerance" slider in your profile to indicate whether you tend to get cold easily or sweat quickly – the app adjusts recommendations accordingly.

3. Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app need my location?

To fetch local weather data. Your location is processed only on your device and never stored on servers. See App Privacy Policy for details.

Which weather data does the app use?

In Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, the app uses official data from the German Weather Service (DWD) via the BrightSky API. Worldwide, Open-Meteo is used.

Does the app work offline?

No. An active internet connection is required to fetch weather data.

Where is my data stored?

No personal data is sent to servers. All your settings (home location, cold tolerance, units) stay locally on your device.

How do I change units (e.g. from Celsius to Fahrenheit)?

Go to „Settings" → Temperature, Wind or Precipitation. Date and time format automatically follow your iOS system settings.

The app shows me a different outfit than expected – what can I do?

The app accounts for activity-specific body-heat development (e.g. +10°C for running). If you tend to get cold or hot more quickly, adjust the „Cold tolerance" slider in your profile – recommendations will adapt accordingly.

How do I save my home location?

In your profile under „My Home" – either „Use current location as home" or via address search. Then you can quickly select your home location via the house icon on the home screen.
